Ashfield House wedding
It was an honour to photograph the wedding of Kirstie and Jay at Ashfield House. This wedding was put together by the lovely people at Gift of a Wedding and I am so happy that I was able to offer my services to this amazing charity. I will definitely be working with Gift of a Wedding again.
I grew up overseas, so I find the history of certain wedding venues in the United Kingdom absolutely fascinating. Ashfield House is a luxury country house wedding venue in Lancashire, which was originally built in 1755 and was extended in 1872 to its current state. It was home to a number of people over the years – including a liberal MP for Wigan, a solicitor and a mill owner. The council purchased it in 1938 (for council offices) and it became a luxury hotel in 1993. In 2013 it was renovated into an exclusive wedding venue and has recently been named the best wedding venue in the United Kingdom!
The entire wedding day took place at this wonderful venue; Kirstie got ready in the beautiful bridal sitting room, the ceremony was in the stunning Langtree suite and the reception was in the restaurant. Kirstie and Jay opted to have a relaxed barbecue for their wedding breakfast (rather than a sit down meal), which was the perfect way to have a chilled out afternoon with their guests.
It was an incredibly beautiful, relaxed and emotional day and Kirstie and Jay were an absolute pleasure to work with – they were easy going, warm, friendly and just so much fun!
If you are looking for wedding photography at Ashfield House and want a relaxed photographer who covers the wedding in an unobtrusive way, but also gets a handful of (natural) portraits, then please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
