The Officers Mess in Fort Takapuna, Auckland is such a sweet wedding venue.

With amazing views of Rangitoto and a beautiful, elegant, neutral space to host your wedding, it’s definitely up there with my absolute favourite venues to photograph!

This beautiful couple, S and D got married at the Officers Mess and I had the absolute pleasure of photographing their day. We all had such a great time.

To say I loved photographing this wedding would be a massive understatement!

It was such a wonderful, beautiful, happy day. We had four seasons that day – fairly typical of Auckland weddings – rain in the morning and wind in the afternoon, but the sun came out just in time for the photos,

One of the great things about getting married at the Officers Mess is the fact that there is a beautiful beach just minutes down the road. The Officers Mess is located on the North Shore, between Devonport and Takapnua, above Narrow Neck Beach.

Of course we popped down to a beautiful, golden North Shore beach for some photos. Because of the proximity of the beach to the venue, S and D weren’t away from their guests for very long at all – and we were still able to get some amazing photos.

I love learning about the history of different wedding venues and this venue has an interesting history. The fort was originally used as a defence against potential conflict with Russia back in the 1880s. In New Zealand terms, that makes it a pretty old building – a Category 1 Historic Building in fact.

The Officers Mess also have a an on-site chef and great food! If you like the photos below, please do get in touch. I am in Auckland all of the time and I have a base there so I take a lot of Auckland bookings.
